As January draws to a close, I want to think about goals for this year and how well you are progressing towards achieving those goals. Hopefully you are making steady progress, building your confidence and sense of achievement and looking forward to the rewards coming your way.
But what if you’re not? What if you are faltering? What if your enthusiasm has disappeared and the old negative thoughts and self-sabotaging patterns have reared their ugly heads once more? What can you do to make this year different?
Now is a good time to change things – take a good hard look at what is blocking you from reaching your goals and take positive steps to clear those blocks away.
We can use EFT tapping to help with this process. And we can use hypnosis to really reinforce that positive mindset as we look forward to achievement.

Otherwise, if you are already familiar with tapping, you can follow these steps for yourself.
Step 1
Make a list of your goals for 2026, writing down as many as you wish to.
Step 2
Think about what can stop you – again, write down as many things as you need to.
Step 3
Having the most important thing that is going to stop you in your mind, tap around the points using the following phrase:”I’m not going to achieve my goal because (insert here what you think will stop you or say ‘this thing’) will stop me”.
Step 4
Think about any habits or behaviours that will hold you back – write them down
Step 5
Tap around the points using the phrase:”(this thing) I always do will stop me achieving my goal”
Step 6
Think about what you always do to self-sabotage. Write it down.
Step 7
Tap around the points using the phrase:”I always self-sabotage by doing (this thing).
Step 8
Think about the stories that you tell yourself about yourself that you hold on to and tap around the points using the phrase:”This story that I always tell myself”.
Step 9
Think about the fears that arise when you think about achieving your goal and tap around the points using the phrase:”This fear I feel about success”.
Step 10
Notice where you experience that fear, perhaps as a sensation in your body or an emotion and tap on the phrase:”This feeling there in my body”.
You might find that there are a number of different fears or feelings in your body that you notice when you get to steps 9 and 10 and that’s OK, you can just tap through them one by one until the sensations and emotions have reduced.
You can work through this 10-step process for as many of this year’s goals as you wish to, because what this will achieve is to reduce the power of those negative thoughts, feelings and habitual stories and behaviours, enabling you to feel confident and empowered to make this year different and the year in which you WILL achieve your goals.
The other part of the process that you might enjoy is to take some time to think about what you have in your favour! We often shy away from noticing what our strengths are and what great qualities we have but that isn’t helpful. The more we can recognise the positive about ourselves, the more we can build our abilities and our confidence.
So think about what will empower you? What great qualities you have? What daily or weekly actions you can take to move forward towards your goal? What feelings do you want to have in your body when you achieve your goal?
Finally spend some time practising self-hypnosis (or follow along with the video link) to really visualise or imagine how you are going to reach your goal in bright, vivid detail.
